Why install gas?
Accessing mains gas has many advantages over electric systems. Gas water heating systems provide an endless hot water supply, gas hobs offer instant and responsive heat for cooking and it’s generally more economical to run than electricity – especially during the colder months. In most cases, the setup costs are also less than new electrical systems.
Gas companies are currently developing ways to supply organic biogas to New Zealand residences.
Biogas is considered a carbon-neutral gas. Currently, some of New Zealand’s gas is biogas. The amount will gradually increase to fully replace the gas that is created from refining oil. Countries such as Australia are also exploring hydrogen as a longer-term option.
